Read the code before the drawing is locked.

Every municipality writes its own sign code. Height, setback, illumination, and digital displays are often different rules. We research them before design is approved — not after a rollout has committed to opening dates.

What varies by jurisdiction

There is no universal height, brightness, or digital-display rule. Ground signs, wall signs, and screens are frequently separate sections of the same by-law. Quebec bilingual requirements and U.S. municipal codes are both in scope for a North American rollout.

  • Height, setback, and lot-line rules.
  • Illumination and hours of lighting.
  • Digital size, brightness, hold time, and animation limits.
  • Landlord or mall criteria on top of the municipal code.

What the permit package contains

Municipal review reads engineered drawings, not a marketing rendering. The package typically includes dimensions, materials, structural calculations, anchors, foundations, and electrical notes — with ordinance constraints already designed in.

Where programs actually slip

Opening dates slip when a rendering is approved before the ordinance is read, when a digital screen is treated as a static face, or when landlord criteria appear after shop files are released. We flag those risks in the program plan.

What you receive

Ordinance notes per market, an engineered package ready for submission, and a filing path coordinated with the production and install calendar.
