When a pylon is the right sign
Built for distance, not the front door.
A pylon is the sign motorists read before they can read the building. Use it when the lot is set back, the approach is fast, or several tenants share one roadside structure. This makes them ideal for fuel retail, multi-tenant sites, setback lots, and height-limited markets.
In fuel retail applications, identity plus led price on the same structure — readable at night on a highway approach. For multi-tenant sites, one engineered stack for brands that share a lot, with cabinets that can be serviced without rebuilding the column. When the building sits too far from the road for channel letters to do the identification job.

Specification checklist
Height, wind, foundation, and the faces on the stack.
Ordinance envelope
Height, setback, illumination, and digital-display rules before design is locked.
Structure
Column, plate, anchors, wind, ice, and foundation sized for the site — not copied from the last market.
Faces and modules
Identity cabinets, tenant panels, LED price, and illumination specified as one stack.
Service access
Cabinets and price modules reachable without rebuilding the column.

In the program
One team from survey to inspection.
When you work with us, the program covers every step from initial site visit through final inspection. The process flows as follows: survey & ordinance (site conditions and the local sign code, flagged before drawings go to the brand), then design & shop files (brand-book faces become a buildable cabinet, price changer, and steel package), then manufacture (fabricated in-house at the montreal plant, then inspected before crate and ship), and finally install & close-out (set, lit, and inspected on the lot — the same standard as the next location).
Pylons need a lift plan, foundation sequence, and a service path for faces and LED modules. We draw access into the shop file so a failed panel is a service call, not a new structure.
Pylon or monument
Choose the structure for the approach.
A pylon is for distance. A monument is for the entrance. Height limits, setback, and whether identity must carry LED price usually decide.
| Consideration | Pylons | Monuments |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Long-range identity at driving speed | Arrival identity at driveway speed |
| Typical sites | Fuel, highway, multi-tenant, setback lots | Dealer, hospitality, campus, ordinance-limited lots |
| Structure | Posts, wind, foundation, service access | Base, grade, drainage, pedestrian scale |

Pylon questions
Height, price, and what the city will allow.
How tall can the pylon be?+
There is no universal height. Each municipality writes its own limit. We read that code before we draw, so the structure that goes to permit is the one that can be built.
Can identity and LED price sit on one structure?+
Yes. Fuel-retail pylons typically carry the brand cabinet and a price changer on the same engineered frame. Digital rules are checked with the rest of the ordinance.
Do you handle multi-tenant stacks?+
Yes. Cabinets are designed as a stack that holds brand standards and can be serviced or re-faced without rebuilding the column.
